Indian Railway made Ticket Cancellation Easy

Aftermath of increase in reservation ticket cancellation price, Indian Railway tried to make the cancellation procedure easier. The commercial department of Indian Railways issued a circular stating that eight stations in Pune division will be mark down as UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) – cum – PRS (Passenger Reservation System), where passenger can collect their refunds.

The eight stations of Pune Division where UTS-cum-PRS facility will be commenced are Khadki, Miraj, Chinchwad, Sangli, Satara, Karad, Talegaon and Kolhapur. Over these counters, at the time of cancellation of ticket, passengers will be asked to fill up a form mentioning their phone numbers & address. The status of the cancellation and refunds will be communicated to them using the phone number. This decision will come into effect from 1st December 2015.

At small stations of Pune division after 8pm, there is no provision for cancellations of tickets from the reservation counters. Passengers are left with no choices other than traveling to big stations or wait until the morning till the counters opens. So this new system will benefit large section of passengers mainly to senior citizens, who are not so well-versed with the online process of booking & cancellation of tickets.
